Jay-Z has paid a visit to Salisbury Cathedral in order to get a glimpse of the Magna Carta, the 13th Century English rights charter, which he referenced in his recent album's title.

Jay-Z turned up just after the service on Sunday (14th July) to inspect the charter, before he played at the Wireless Festival in London.

The rap star did not want the visit to be a media circus, keeping it low key and a source close to the rapper commented 'he didn't want it to become a big publicity stunt'.

He reportedly drove up to the Cathedral with a small group, in his classic Aston Martin.

The Rapper was humbled by the inclusion of a copy of the artwork from his record Magna Carta Holy Grail next to the real Magna Carta. Jay-Z's source mentioned that he was 'genuinely touched' by the gesture. He reportedly posed for pictures with fans when they asked.

Jay-Z spent around an hour at the Cathedral. He was treated to a tour around the catherdral by Dean June Osbourne, and she commented that he was a 'delightful geust' and that they 'discussed the work we seek to do here to further the cause of social justice'.

Osbourne added that the Hov was 'clearly moved' when he saw the original Magna Carta.
