Elton John has eased fears that he could miss his headline slot at this year's Bestival, thanking fans for messages of support during his recent illness and promising to resume his tour.
The music icon recently cancelled a string of summer shows due to appendicitis, including his headline slot at Hyde Park, and postponed his European summer dates. Now on the road to recovery, Elton John has penned a personal message to fans on his website, thanking them for their support.
"I would like to thank the literally thousands of people who have sent me get well cards and messages over the past two weeks," wrote the 'Rocket Man' legend. "Your well wishes have touched me deeply and will play a big part in my recovery.
John is scheduled to headline the Sunday night of Bestival this year, alongside Friday and Saturday headliners Snoop Dogg and Fatboy Slim. After the announcement of his illness, there were fears he might not be well enough to perform. He also spoke of his desire to get back on the road as soon as possible, adding: "I cannot wait to see you all and thank you in person when I resume my concert schedule later this year."

The star claims he nearly died during his illness, saying in a tabloid interview: "I was a ticking time bomb," he told The Sun newspaper.
"I guess I could have died at any time. I feel so lucky and so grateful to be alive. I played nine gigs and the White Tie and Tiara Summer Ball in agony."
