Chvrches have joked that their electropop sounds may not go down with the Reading and Leeds festival audiences, saying that they may find themselves suffering the same fate as pop duo Daphne & Celeste in 2000.
The 'Ooh Stick You' star had bottles of 'liquid' hurled at them during their infamous festival performance, and while Chvrches are a far more appealing festival prospect, it's clear the incident is on their minds.
"I still don't feel we're an electronic act," says producer Martin Doherty to Gigwise. "We still compose songs in a verse / chorus / verse fashion. Ultimately it is rock structures and rock approach to writing, but the instruments happen to be keyboards and electronic drum kits rather than a live backing.
"I think that's a product of where we come from. We all come from guitar based backgrounds," he adds. "Maybe we'll be OK, or maybe it'll be like Daphne & Celeste and we'll get bottled off."

Chvrches also revealed that their highlight of 2013 had been supporting Depeche Mode in Milan - despite similar fears of a bad crowd reaction at that gig as well.
"It blew my mind a little bit," he told us backstage at Latitude. "It was crazy. It was 60,000, the biggest audience we've played to by a mile. It was 60,000 for Depeche Mode and it wasn't full when we finished, but it was getting there.
"The fans were lovely to us," he added. "I had heard these horror stories about Depeche Mode fans that if they don't like the support band they throw eggs, but they were really kind to us. That was the second show we've done with them, we've got a couple more next week. They've been really nice to us and that's all we can ask for."
Chvrches perform at Reading and Leeds festivals on 23 and 24 August 2013. Tickets are on sale now. For more information visit Gigwise Gig Tickets.
