Unlike many other Britpop bands, The Charlatans have never split and never dipped in their output - having released 11 albums in the past 25 years, with another set to be completed at the end of 2013.

We caught up with bassist Martin Blunt and keyboardist Tony Rogers backstage at Kendal Calling to discuss their ongoing career, with Blunt revealing the secret to keeping a fanbase is sticking to your guns.

"I think we're really good at moving on. I don't like the term reinvention and I don't think we're reinventing ourselves," Blunt told us. "We wear our influences on our sleeves. This one, it could be going back to where we started, we've gone fill circle."

He also added that keeping the secret to keeping things sweet between band members - distance.

"I don't know why we haven't killed each by now, whatever it is, it works," he added. "We don't live in each other's pockets. We're not neighbours, so it's quite easy to get on when you don't see each other - but we share a common ground, the music."

"That's what we do share. We want to get into the studio and write new songs," added Rogers.

"The band has lasted longer than some marriages in the band."
