London Grammar last night performed at Kendal Calling on the Gigwise Calling Out stage - and the band described it as one of their best ever shows. We were there, and tend to agree.
The band release their debut album, If You Wait, on 9 September 2013, and it is one of the year's most anticipated debuts. It will also hopefully shake off the comparisons to The xx that have followed London Grammar since day one.
"We still get those all the time," says singer Hannah Reid, speaking to Gigwise immediately after their Kendal Calling performance.
Guitarist Dan Rothman has never had an issue with the comparisons however, safe in the knowledge that the release of their debut album would establish the band in their own right. "We weren't ever worried about being compared to The xx, because with the new songs, the comparisons have become less and less. It's good though," he says.

London Grammar have taken their time on the album, and after single releases such as 'Wasting My Young Years' and 'Strong', claim fans have now heard enough of the band for If You Wait to not come as too much of a surprise.
"We're at the point now where it's more a collection," says bandmate Dot Major. "We've hinted at every sound we'll have on the album with the songs we've had so far. It's not anything completely unexpected now."
'Hopefully it will challenge fans more than shock anyone."
"You could just go on forever, changing things. It feels good to have it done, and not worry about it any more," said Hannah. "Although I will still worry about it when it is released."
