UK dance stars Chase & Status are set to release their third album in Autumn and the band claim it will mark a significant change in direction for the duo.

Will Kennard, one half of the act, has discussed the influence of house and electro sounds on the new album Brand New Machine which will see a continued progression away from their earlier drum and bass style.

In an interview with Zane Lowe, Kennard stated: ''There's a general 20-year cycle, it kind of happens with fashion and music, which always seems to happen. 19/20 years on, it comes back again. House music is bringing a lot of influence from that, techno; a lot of that stuff is coming back.''

However Kennard promises despite the influence of older musical styles, their new sound isn't completely retrogressive. Although the new album has the 90s influence 'vibrating through it' Kennard states 'there's some new cutting-edge stuff on there too.'

The duo are beginning to feel the pressure 'People are talking about it' and as a result it has inspired them to finish it more quickly. "Nothing is finished until it's literally physically dragged away from us by our manager. Pure pressure but, you know, that's how everyone does it in the music industry.''

Chase & Status will release 'Brand New Machine' on October 7.

Chase & Status will be playing before Eminem at Reading festival on Saturday 24th August and Leeds on 25th August. Tickets are on sale now. For more information visit Gigwise Gig Tickets.
