In a very personal message to fans on the band's website, Panic! At The Disco drummer, Spencer Smith, has revealed his four year battle with a drug and alcohol addiction.

What started as a drinking habit on tour four and a half years ago, rapidly developed into a long struggle with anxiety and depression that required self medication with alcohol and prescription drugs.

He has confessed to fans that his self medication was a way of "never having to deal with any underlying issues causing the depression" and that he "quickly became a serious addict."

"I was taking a dangerous amount of pills while drinking to chase the high, and just like with any other substance, the higher the high is, the lower the low is," he wrote in a personal message to fans.

However, the drummer goes on to state how last year after months of trying to quit, he went in for treatment with the support of his bandmates and is now firmly on the road to recovery.

He ends his message stating "it gets better one day at a time" and urges anyone sufferring in the same way to seek help.
