Lady Gaga has been accused by Russian politicians of promoting "gay propaganda" during her 2012 gig in St Petersburg. It has also emerged that the singer has been accused of breaking immigration law whilst in the country on her world tour.
Politicians considered Gaga's performance to be an active promotion of gay propaganda, an accusation that was also made against Madonna last year when she also performed in the Russian city. It has been declared an illegal act to promote homosexuality in the country.
An investigation has now officially been launched into Gaga's time spent in Russia following the second allegation that she broke the law by possessing the incorrect visa.
The star has been accused of performing in the country on a tourist visa, another illegal act, as the singer was making money.
A statement from Russia has been released claiming "The visas issued were of the basic cultural exchange sort, which does not grant their bearers the right to engage in any commercial activity."
The cases will now be forwarded to the Foreign Ministry and the Federal Migration Service for further investigation.
Lady Gaga is due to release new single 'Applause' on 19 August, 2013. See the artwork below.
