Reformed girl group MKS have admitted that it is a struggle to distance themselves from their previous roles as Sugababes, despite a successful relaunch this year and the apparent demise of the group they founded as children.

Mutya Keisha Siobhan have returned to music in 2013 with critically acclaimed new single 'Flatline', and despite hopes for a new start, have found it a struggle to escape their previous work.

"Everyone calls us that, we came up with the name when we were 12 years old, it's kind of hard to get away from that," says Keisha Buchanon in an interview with BBC Newsbeat. "But it's a new day and a fresh start."

The group also reveal that the reason they reformed was because they didn't get a chance to enjoy their success during their intitial time together.

"For us it's always been about let's get back together not because of that situation [the success of the Sugababes], not because we are desperate," she adds. "Just because we want to have fun and we felt like we didn't get the chance to enjoy it the first time around."

"The places we went and saw, it kind of goes over your head when you're a teenager," says Siobhan Donaghy.

"You don't appreciate it very much," adds Mutya Buena.

"You're too busy being insecure and a teenager, so now we are in our twenties and a little bit older and wiser, we can enjoy it."
