An accident has forced veteran rocker Neil Young to cancel all upcoming live shows across the UK and Europe.

Neil Young and Crazy Horse were in the midst of a European tour and were scheduled to perform shows at London's O2 and Liverpool's Echo Arena later this month. It has been reported the cancellation is due to Crazy Horse guitarist Frank Sampedro fracturing his hand.

"Due to an accident involving Crazy Horse, the remaining dates on the Neil Young and Crazy Horse tour of Europe and the British Isles have been cancelled. We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes to our fans or the festivals where we were scheduled to appear. As you must be, we too are disappointed at this unfortunate turn of events," read an official statement.

Ticket holders have been informed that they can get a refund on their tickets from the point of purchase.

Young spoke of maintaining his rock and roll lifestyle in 2012, when discussing his autobiography with The New York Times in 2012.

"I don't think I'm going to be able to continue to mainly be a musician forever, because physically I think it's going to take its toll on me - it's already starting to show up here and there," he told the publication.
