Banks, Lady Gaga, Bob Dylan: best tracks of the week

Need some new music? You've come to the right place. This week's collection of new tracks is small but perfectly formed, and covers unheard tracks from the seventies to fresh material from a blog favourite.

Oh yeah. And there's a Lady Gaga leak too.

So, from a 43-year-old Bob Dylan cut to a jaw-droppingly brilliant new tune from LA starlet Banks, check out the finest tracks of the past seven days...

Banks 'Waiting Game'
This has been giving us chills all week. Rising electronic star Banks has been fluttering around the blog scene for some time now, but her latest release 'Waiting Game' is the track to tip her into the mainstream. Perhaps the most emotive pop tune since Robyn's 'With Every Heartbeat'. Prepare for goosebumps.

Lady Gaga 'Aura'
Gaga sprung a leak this week (or was a carefully planned promotional tactic?), and her bonkers new track 'Aura / Burqa' appeared online. Following on from the schizophrenic sounds of her last album, Born This Way, 'Aura' shows the same flashes of genius among the cacophony of pop experimentation. It's pretty good.

Kings Of Leon 'Wait For Me'
As the band gear up for the release of new record Mechanical Bull, KoL showed their soft side this week with the truly lovely 'Wait For Me'. A softer, more reflective track than current single 'Supersoaker', this track sets the bar high for the album.

Drake 'Hold On We're Going Home'
Canadian Drake is yet to put a foot wrong since his rise to fame, and 'Hold On We're Going Home' is yet another flawless slice of laid-back r&b. Teaming up with singer Majid, the track is based around a slick beat and is potentially his finest since mega-hit, 'Take Care'. It's that good.

London Grammar 'Feelings'
Even when it's a b-side, London Grammar can't put a foot wrong. This moderately upbeat track from their upcoming 'Strong' release won't appear on their upcoming album, If You Wait - and if they can afford to kick this one out of bed, just think what wonders await us on the debut.

Earl Sweatshirt 'Burgundy'
Earl Sweatshirt's upcoming album Doris is one of the most eagerly anticipated rap releases of 2013. If 'Burgundy' is anything to go by, it's going to be worth the wait. Earl spits aggressive rhymes over a raw, orchestral backing. The language might raise a few eyebrows however. Hope he doesn't kiss his grandmother with that mouth.

Frightened Rabbit 'Default Blues'
Following their spectacular 2013 album Pedestrian Verse, Frightened Rabbit release their Woodpile EP on 2 September, and 'Default Blues' is taken from it. Packed with the band's unmistakeable hooks, the track has a more alternative edge to tracks heard on the album.

Bob Dylan 'Pretty Saro'
'Pretty Saro' is taken from Another Self Portrait - a 35-track box set of demos and live versions from 1969's Nashville Skyline and 1970's Self Portrait and New Morning, due for release this August. The song is Dylan at his most soulful and heart-felt, with rich tones and sweet melodies. The track comes accompanied with a fittingly romantic and heartfelt video that acts as a tribute to old-school Americana.
