Welsh singer Charlotte Church has explained the reasoning behind her recent attack on X Factor, revealing why she stated on Twitter that she would rather 'poke her eyes out with a stick' than judge the TV talent show.
Church has been among the names of rumoured potential future judges on the show for several years, but last week (9 August, 2013) she slammed the show, and claimed she was told that judges on the show had no input into the contestants on the show. She has now discussed her outburst further, in a new interview.
"If it was a show that was actually about music talent, creativity and songwriting in any way shape or form then I’d love to be a part of that," she told Welsh newspaper, Wales On Sunday. "But as that doesn’t seem to be available, nobody wants to seem to make that sort of show, then no."
The star is currently promoting her third independent solo EP, which has seen the star get experimental with her sounds, aiming for a more alternative, acoustic sound - and is a far cry from her opera days and pop hits such as 'Call My Name'.

X Factor will be judged this year by Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger and Sharon Osbourne. Walsh has confirmed that this will be his last on the show, and there are doubts about its future, as Simon Cowell's ten year contract with ITV comes to an end in 2013.
