Beady Eye's replacement at V Festival have been announced, with Steve Angello of Swedish House Mafia set to step into the slot vacated by Liam Gallagher and co.

The band have been forced to cancel their appearance at the festival due to guitarist Gem Archer's recent head injury. Tabloid sources claim he fractured his skull when he fell down stairs at his home. The band have been forced to cancel a number of international appearances as well as their V slot.

Angello has released three solo collections, one with Sebastian Ingrosso and two with Swedish House Mafia.

The full details of Archer's injury have not been revealed, but The Sun newspaper claims he fell down the stairs and fractured his skull.,They are serious enough for the band to have cancelled a number of shows in Belgium and Japan this month, and now their V Festival performance.

A statement from the band has been issued, apologising to fans hoping to see Liam Gallagher and co perform new week in Essex and Staffordshire.

"The band apologise to fans but under the circumstances feel they can not perform without Gem and want to focus on supporting him," it reads.

"Gem was released from hospital yesterday evening (Wednesday 7 August) and is recovering at home though remains under observation."
