Disco icon Nile Rodgers has been working on brand new material with Chase & Status. See a photo of the unlikely collaboration below.
During a very successful and prolific period for Rodgers, the Chic superstar took to Twitter to unveil that they'd been working together.
He tweeted: "Composed a song w/ drum n bass gurus @chaseandstatus earlier this year which I'll finish tonight"
Rodgers' colourful career already features a roster of collaborations that includes David Bowie, Madonna, Michael Jackson and Will Smith. Talking to Gigwise last month, we asked if the runaway success of 'Get Lucky' with Daft Punk and Pharrell had brought a new army of artists demanding to work with him.
"No, that's always been my life," he replied. "You have to understand something - most records never become hits. Most records never make the grade. Not everything can be a No.1, but that doesn't mean that we're not trying. We always are."
Nile Rodgers has tweeted that he's been working with Chase & Status
Speaking to Gigwise backstage at Glastonbury festival about their new material, Chase & Status said that the LP would feature a wide mixture of sounds and influences.
"It's really good," said Saul 'Chase' Milton. "We're nearly finished, we've got a single coming out and it's really fun - we're really excited about it."
Asked about where the album would take the Chase & Status sound, Will 'Status' Kennard replied: "Nowhere - it doesn't!"
"It takes us back to why we love music, man. Our inspiration is in our record. Some of it's old-school but brought up to date, and it's just about all that inspires us."
He added "There's a whole lot of stuff in there. Our albums are fairly mixed with different music.
Brand New Machine by Chase & Status is set for release on 7 October, 2013.
Nile Rodgers will be touring with Chic throughout the year, with performances at Bestival, Festival No.6 and The Warehouse Project. For more information visit Gigwise Gig Tickets.
