Lady Gaga has premiered the lyric video for her latest single 'Applause'. Watch the clip below.
The video, the first from her upcoming album ARTPOP, sees Gaga painted as a clown as she gets up on stage with drag queens in a burlesque club and dance around the scene with her 'Little Monsters' as the lyrics are flashed across the scene.
The track has been met with controversy, not only due to its lacklustre nature but also because in an attempt to beat Katy Perry's arguably superior single 'Roar' to the No.1 spot, the eccentric superstar has now been accused of exploiting the adoration of her Little Monsters fanbase to get there after a stream of Tweets urging fans to buy the single multiple times to win gig tickets.

Writing on Twitter earlier this week, Gaga said;
Screenshot your 'Applause' purchase @ladygaga request to radio, & hashtag #Applause well choose 2 devoted fans to go WITH me to ITunes fest!

In a second tweet yesterday, even went so far as to say that if they bought multiple copies, they would increase their chances of winning.
The 2 fans w the most purchase/gift screenshots, radio requests, 'Applause' selfies/video, will fly international to meet me+watch the show!

'Applause' was released early after being leaked online and Gaga, in hallmark dramatic fashion, declared it a "pop music emergency". Despite what cynics may believe to be underhand tactics, it's rather exciting to have a proper chart battle again.
