Despite a highly publicised chart battle between Katy Perry and Lady Gaga in the US, Ellie Goulding is likely to keep Gaga from the top in the UK, and is confident 'Burn' will secure her her first UK No.1 on Sunday.
Ellie Goulding has led the midweek charts this week, despite the huge promotion surrounding Gaga's comeback track, 'Applause'.
Speaking to the Metro, Goulding said; "It feels quite funny because I remember there was a similar thing when Lights, my album, was up against Gaga’s and it somehow got to No.1 above her album, so it feels like that again."
It's a case of the student becoming the teacher as Ellie has previously cited both Lady Gaga and Katy Perry as big influences in her career. She toured with Perry and has met Gaga at the Brits.

It's been a good time lately for the Herefordshire-born singer, as the news follows that of 'I Need Your Love', her duet with Calvin Harris, storming the charts in the US. The video for the track has now been nominated for an MTV VMA award.
