Essex Police arrested 114 people at V Festival this past weekend, with most of those for drug offences.
Police report that by 1pm, they'd arrested 84 offenders - with 72 of these for drug possession and 22 for dealing. These were made with the assistance of sniffer dogs at the entrance to the Hylands Park venue.
There were also four arrested for assault and four for fraud, while two were arrested for theft and two for drunk and disorderly behaviour. Police also arrested one offender for drink-driver and another for driving while disqualified.
"All our officers have been doing a great job, working with the V Festival organisers to make sure this fantastic event is a safe and fun one," said Chief Supt Andy Prophet “The work of our drugs dogs in sniffing out those supplying drugs has been a key element in our tactics this year and it’s one that has worked really well. "
He continued: “We would like to thank all the festival-goers for taking note of our crime prevention advice and hope that they enjoyed the weekend. “We would urge people to be mindful of their alcohol limits if they’re going to drive home at the end of today or in the morning and be patient as the roads will be busy after the festival ends.”

Similarly, Police at V's sister site in Staffordshire also took a strong stance in cracking down on drug abuse this year - tweeting about various incidents of disorder and crime throughout the weekend.
"Drugs are not welcome at V," said Chief Inspector Pete Owen of Staffordshire Police. "If you take them, or attempt to sell them, you will be caught and dealt with."
