A surge in crime, 8 times higher than usual, has been blamed on fans of the Stone Roses after gigs held in Finsbury Park earlier this summer.

According to the Hackney Gazette, reported incident figures for June show that the number rose to 165, compared with 20 in May and 16 in April.

Police have been blamed for "not being prepared" for the concerts, held on 7 and 8 June, after fans were allegedly starting brawls, urinating in parks, and disturbing residents with loud, profane language in the early hours of the morning.

Other crimes involved incidents of violence against the person, personal robbery and thefts from motor vehicles. Last month, Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie went so far as to describe Stone Roses fans as some of the most "wasted" he's ever seen.
