Kanye West has reportedly turned down an offer to become the next judge on the hit music talent show, American Idol. His refusal to judge on the panel is believed to be due to his concerns that it would damage his reputation and cause him to lose credibility.
The Yeezus rapper was allegedly asked to take on the role following the departure of Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Randy Jackson, but refused the spot after judging the show as too mainstream.
Producers of the show were reppertedly also considering Will.i.am and Sean 'Diddy' Coombs for the same panel spot, but have now gone for the relatively unknown Dr Luke, a songwriter, to appear alongside Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez.

Meanwhile, West is appearing on a pre-recorded TV interview later this week, his first in three years. The interview is on the day time chat show Kris, with wife Kim Kardashan's mother, Kris Jenner.
