The show will be a warm-up for their headline sets at Reading and Leeds festival this weekend - where Turner is also set to perform. It was recently announced that an ongoing back injury has forced Turner to cancel a number of upcoming European festival dates - but promised to battle through to play Reading and Leeds this weekend, telling fans: "We are working on a plan, and if I have to do them in a goddamn wheelchair I will."
This morning, the former Million Dead star took to his official Facebook page to reveal: "Happy to announce that the lovely Green Day have convinced me to hobble down to Brixton Academy tonight to open their sold out show.
"I'll be on at 7.30. Maybe see you there."
