A dentist and Beatles fan has purchased one of John Lennon's teeth for £20,000 in the hope of cloning the the late superstar.
The Sun newspaper reports that Dr Daniel Zuk bought the tooth at an auction in 2011 from Lennon's former housekeeper, Dot Jarlett after it was removed in the late 1960s. Now, the Fab Four fanatic has revealed that he has grand ambitions for it.
"If scientists think they can clone mammoths, then John Lennon could be next," said Zuk. "To say I had a small part in bringing back one of rock's greatest stars would be mind-blowing. I'm nervous and excited at the possibility we will be able to fully sequence John Lennon's DNA, very soon I hope."
He added: "Many Beatles fans remember where they were when they heard John Lennon was shot. I hope they also live to hear the day he got another chance."

If Zuk is successful in his cloning attempt, it could bring fans one step closer to a Beatles reunion - providing George Harrison can be brought back as well. Ringo Starr recently opened up about the possibility of a Beatles reunion, if the band were all still alive, in an interview with the Mirror.
"It's a crazy question," he said. "I'd like to think, yes, we would. Paul still goes out with his band, I go out with him and John would probably have been going out with his... But who knows, it could have come together."
