Bastille have been voted the most exciting band at this weekend's Reading & Leeds festivals, beating the likes of headliners Green Day, Eminem and Biffy Clyro to the top.

Gigwise readers placed the band, who only received their mainstream breakthrough this year, ahead of iconic superstars including Nine Inch Nails, System Of A Down and many more. Bastille will perform on the NME / BBC Radio One stage on Friday 23 August at Reading and on Saturday 24 August at Leeds.

Bastille took the top spot on the Gigwise poll, beating System Of A Down into second place. In third place are Biffy Clyro, who step up to headliner status at Reading and Leeds, following the release of their spectacular 2013 album Opposites earlier this year.

Also scoring well with Reading and Leeds-going Gigwise readers were Nine Inch Nails, who placed fourth, and the currently incapacitated Frank Turner, who may be forced to perform at the festival on crutches or in a wheelchair after suffering a back injury.

The poll is now closed, but you can view it here

Bastille have had a huge 2013 - and should prove a highlight at Reading & Leeds

US rapper Azealia Banks proved less appealing to our readers, and was voted the least exciting act at Reading and Leeds. Divisise dubstep star Skrillex was voted second least exciting, while Enter Shikari, Tame Impala and Funeral For A Friend were also, surprisingly, ranked poorly in our poll.

Action at Reading and Leeds festival kicks off tomorrow (23 August 2013).
