Frightened Rabbit have paid tribute to their friends and former touring partners Biffy Clyro, claiming that they will be 'incredible' when they headline Reading and Leeds festival this weekend.

Speaking to Gigwise ahead of their first ever appearance at Reading and Leeds, the band said that Biffy had 'earned' the right to headline the Main Stage at such a major event.

When asked what fans should expect from Biffy's set this weekend, Frightened Rabbit frontman Scott Hutchison replied: ""Big mega-tunes! They're going to have their tops off as soon as they get on stage because luckily, they can get away with it because they're fucking fit."

He added: "The music that they make is very unifying and I'm sure it will be incredible.

Drummer Grant Hutchison continued: "For Biffy, it's a pretty monumental thing to headline a major festival and they completely deserve it. It will be amazing. They've always been a band that we've looked up to because they've been around for so long as a three-piece that sound like a five-piece rock band with no gimmicks or tricks.

"People are going to lose their shit."

When asked about whatever bands they were excited to watch this weekend, Scott said: "We're not sure who we'll get to see, but I've always wanted to see Deftones. I've never seen them live but to see them at a proper rock festival will be amazing.

"Chvrches are playing the same day as us and they've been at the same festivals as us all summer. We've only ever seen them in tiny venues when they were first starting out and we'd love to see where it's gone."

This weekend will also be the first time that Frightened Rabbit have ever played Reading and Leeds Festival.

"I have no idea what to expect," said Scott. "We tend to head into something with a pessimistic idea and then be pleasantly surprised. I've always heard good things about the crowds there, but we're here it's going to piss with rain unfortunately. Actually, we're playing in a tent so fingers crossed that it does!"

When asked about where they see themselves on the line-up in future years, Grant said: "We never set ourselves a limit. Why would you say second from top? I don't know where I actually see it going but there's no reason not to say that we'd never headline."

Scott went on: "The flipside of that is that I think we've achieved a lot this year, and should we go no further than I'd be equally as happy because we're playing to more people than ever. You have to put yourself in the mindset of where we were six or seven years ago and seeing how far we've come - not that we want to settle."

Frightened Rabbit will be playing on the NME BBC Radio One Stage at 4.50pm today (Friday) in Reading and at 4.40pm on Saturday in Leeds. After appearing at End Of The Road festival, the band will then be heading out on a full UK tour. Full dates for Frightened Rabbit's upcoming tour are as follows:
