Ahead of Eminem’s Reading and Leeds performances this weekend, Gigwise caught up with Slaughterhouse members Royce Da 5’ 9” and Joell Ortiz to discuss the real Slim Shady’s upcoming project.

Not willing to spill the beans, Royce admits, “I’m not really allowed to talk about it. Em’s whole thing is the element of surprise. That’s how it’s always been with him.”

“He gets in to his own world,” says Joell Ortiz. “I too am like him in a way. I like to go in to my cave and get the meat and potatoes of my album done before I venture out because I’ve gotta figure out the sound. I’ve gotta figure out exactly where I wanna go. I’ve gotta get the ideas that have been running around in my head down first before I start saying, ‘Ok, maybe I could get Slaughterhouse on this one or maybe we can get this artist.’ So I’m sure that’s probably what he’s doing.”

Ortiz adds, “But c’mon... that’s Eminem. That’s the homie now. I’m sure we’ll be working with him for it.”

Over the past six months Eminem has been photographed in studios with the likes of comedian Chris Rock and rapper Big Sean - whose recent “Control” leak caused an internet frenzy due to the featured Kendrick Lamar verse - as well as TDE’s Ab Soul and Kendrick Lamar himself, but no official details have yet been released. The release date and title of Eminem’s upcoming eighth album is still TBA.

Also asking Royce if there will be another Bad Meets Evil album following the success of his and Eminem’s first release as a duo; Hell: The Sequel, he answers, “We haven’t talked about that yet. I wouldn’t close the door on it because with the first Bad Meets Evil album - the one we just did - we didn’t plan that one. We didn’t know what was gonna happen and if it was gonna happen. It could end up being a situation where his album is out and Slaughterhouse’s album is out and we have some free time together. I could see it accidentally happening. But we never plan anything.”
