The Weeknd, Kele Okereke: the week's best new tracks

This week's been a stellar one for great artists premiering great music. We have heard calm, peaceful tunes from the likes of London Grammar and Sam Smith, as well as remixes that are almost better than the original from Lorde and The Weeknd.

So, we've gathered 10 of the best brand new songs from this week for your aural pleasure. You're welcome

The Weeknd feat. Drake - 'Live For'
Starting off slow, the song builds around a simple acoustic guitar hook with The Weeknd's signature trembling tones, and swells until Drake makes his vocal appearance and shunts the entire song into overdrive.

Nine Inch Nails - 'Everything'
An unusually poppy-turn from Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails, with verses that sound more like something from a Green Day track, it's no less awesome than previous recent singles like 'Came Back Haunted' which exhibit more of a NIN trademark sound.

Lorde - 'Royals' (The Weeknd remix)
We have had this track on repeat all week. Abel Tesfaye has put his own stamp on this already brilliant tune with a sweet R'n'B groove, swelling synth, and his own spine-tingling vocals as backing in all the right places. Proper ear candy.

Sam Smith - 'Nirvana'
In the second solo single from his yet to be released debut EP, Sam Smith really sets the bar high for himself. A downtempo, sexy tune; it accentuates his porcelain-smooth voice and emotional lyrics perfectly.

Yadi - 'Creatures'
Blending musical influences from her diverse heritage with a London vibe in her inimitable style, 'Creatures' has a slow, almost reggae-style beat with plenty of harmonies and layers of percussion. Great stuff. Watch the video here:

London Grammar -  'Interlude'
The beautiful tune 'Interlude' is a simple piano-led ballad that builds and swells in intensity and emotion. From the talented bunch that have brought us songs like 'Wasting My Young Years' and the amazing 'Strong', it's one for the repeat button.

Ellie Goulding - 'Goodness Gracious'

Co-written with Fun. frontman Nate Ruess, it bears hallmarks of both parties. Anthemic, with almost tribal harmonies reminiscent of Fun.'s 'Some Nights', and an electro heart that is all Ms. Goulding. So good.

Iggy Azalea - 'Change Your Life'
In typical Azalea style, she's stormed it again. This song is jam-packed with hard beats and an addictive chorus. Iggy herself said "It's a big record". And big it is, with T.I. completing the track by guesting some vocals, the song is set to be a hit.

Frightened Rabbit - 'Radio Silence'
We love Frightened Rabbit, and this song makes us love them that little bit more. What's not to love? There's emotive lyrics, perfect instrumentation, and it's even about that time when you're staring at the phone, praying for that girl/boy to give you a call and nothing materialises. Been there, dude...

Kele Okereke & RAC - 'Let Go'
Bloc Party frontman Kele has teamed up as a solo artist with producer RAC on this upbeat electro track. It hasn't yet failed to have us nodding our heads and tapping our feet, and it's something a little different to the sea of dance that's out there at the moment. Good times.
