'Pompeii' stars Bastille have revealed how they expected to be pelted with bottles of urine when they first performed at Reading & Leeds festivals in 2012.
The London band, who broke into the mainstream in 2013, made their Reading & Leeds debut last year, and startled by stories of rough treatement endured by the likes of 50 Cent, Panic! At The Disco and Daphne, assumed they would be in for the same treatment. Fortunately for the band, this wasn't the case.
"Last year for us was such a surprise," the band told us backstage at Reading Festival 2013. "We thought we were going to get bombed by all sorts of nasty fluids in bottles, mostly urine, but as it transpired everyone packed the tent out, had a good singalong, made us feel pretty good.
"Everyone had urinated beforehand, and didn't feel the need to during the gig."
The band performed today, (Friday 23 August 2013) at Reading Festival, and the band were recently named the most exciting band on the line-up by Gigwise readers, which the band admit added an extra pressure to their performance.
"It was such a surprise to know that people thought that, although it heaps a ton of pressure on us," they added.

With the summer festival season now drawing to a close, the band claim that their Glastonbury performance in June 2013 was the highlight of their year, although also rank their Reading & Leeds performance highly.
"Glastonbury for us has been the highlight by quite some way. I think Glastonbury is one of those ones that everyone want to do and we did it - as is Reading," the band told us. "Last year, Reading was the one that made us go 'wow' and we're back again a year on."
