Chase & Status were forced to halt their Reading Festival performance last night (24 August, 2013) after fears of fans being crushed among the huge numbers in the audience.
Vocalist MC Rage had to address the problems from the stage, halting a performance of the dance collective's 'Let Yourself Go' to ask audience members to step back prevent fans at the front being injured.
"A lot of people are being crushed and we can't carry on. Reading are you with me? Then fucking move back then," said Rage as he requested calm among the audience. "Anyone who is on the floor please step over the barriers. Seriously we need everyone to push back."
Melvin Benn was also seen speaking directly to MC Rage to request he attempt to calm the crowds.

When the group restarted the track, there was a second audience surge, and Rage was forced to make a second request: "Everybody take a step back people are getting crushed. You need to take a step back so we can get this party started. We need a bit of space down the front so we can carry this shit on," he asked.
