Reading & Leeds Festival headliner Eminem has announced the release of his hugely anticipated eighth studio album, The Marshall Mathers EP 2 in November of this year.
The album is the official follow-up to his 2000 release, The Marshall Mathers LP, which is the biggest selling record of his career. To date, the album has shifted 27,000,000 copies worldwide. It also spawned singles including his career-defining 'Stan', which he performed at Reading Festival this weekend with original vocalist Dido.
The new album sees long-time collaborator Dr Dre return to production duties, alongside hip-hop icon Rick Rubin.
Eminem announced the release of his new album via two YouTube videos, which not only tease the release date, also reveals an extract of his new single, 'Berzerk'. Check them both out below.
Shady Records signings Slaughterhouse recently told Gigwise that the rapper would return with a 'surprise' for fans.
Rapper Royce Da 5' 9" told us, “I’m not really allowed to talk about it. Em’s whole thing is the element of surprise. That’s how it’s always been with him.”
“He gets in to his own world,” says Joell Ortiz. “But c’mon... that’s Eminem. That’s the homie now. I’m sure we’ll be working with him for it.”
Over the past six months Eminem has been photographed in studios with the likes of comedian Chris Rock and rapper Big Sean - whose recent “Control” leak caused an internet frenzy due to the featured Kendrick Lamar verse - as well as TDE’s Ab Soul and Kendrick Lamar himself, but no official details have yet been released. The release date and title of Eminem’s upcoming eighth album is still TBA.
