Madonna has been named the biggest earning star in the past year, with an income of $125million made in just 12 months.
The star released her MDNA album in early 2012 to poor reviews and limited sales, but the star raked in millions from her world tour, which made headlines for Madge's X-rated performances which included brandishing guns and revealing her naked breasts on stage. Despite many critics having previously claimed Madonna was past her prime, her earnings in the past year make it the most profitable of her entire career - her previous best being 2009, during which she earned a paltry $110million. Spare change in comparison.
The 'Girl Gone Wild' singer beat movie director Steven Spielberg into second place, with his $100million income made moslty from royalties from hits such as Jurassic Park and Raiders Of The Lost Ark, rather than recent releases.
As well as the cash, Madonna was also named Billboard's top touring artist of 2013
Simon Cowell and Lady Gaga also placed inside the Top Ten, as compiled by US magazine Forbes. Cowell raked in $95million from his TV talent show and pop music empire, the international success of the likes of One Direction and Cher Lloyd lining his pockets nicely. Gaga placed at No.10, with earnings of $80million, mostly made from her hugely successful Born This Way ball tour.
