Kendrick Lamar has spoken out about the controversy caused by his explosive verse on Big Sean's 'Control' track, stating he intends to leave a mark as big as the legendary Biggie and 2pac.
The claims came whilst he was interviewed on an American radio station, the rapper telling the interviewer "I didn’t know there would be so much speculation, I just want to rap."
As well as comparing himself to James Bond and referring to Lindsey Lohan as a "rich ass white girl", the verse features him proclaiming himself as the King of New York and challenging a number of rappers including Nas, Eminem, Andre 3000 and A$AP Rocky to step up to the plate.

He explains in his interview that his rap was not insulting the rappers and was instead done out of respect for them.
"The irony of that line is that the people who actually understood it and got it were the actual kings of New York, you know, me sitting down with them this past week, and them understanding, it’s not actually about being the king of whatever coast, it’s about leaving a mark as great as Biggie, as great as Pac.” "
