30 Seconds To Mars frontman Jared Leto has spoken out in defence of Miley Cyrus' MTV Video Music Awards performance, claiming there are far worse things in youth culture than a 20-year-old shaking her bottom.
Leto attended the ceremony with his bandmates on Sunday night, and was in the audience when Cyrus performed with Robin Thicke on stage. When questioned about his opinions on the performance, Leto shrugged it off, saying that youngsters were exposed to worse on a daily basis.
"I do think it's interesting how shocked people get," said Leto in an interview with Billboard magazine. "If they could only see the rave their kids are going to and what their kids are wearing at the rave. Or just watch the video games they're playing.
"Those are probably the more shocking things in life right now."
"When we were younger it was Madonna rolling around in a dress," he added. "Now that seems tame compared to what's going on, right?"
