More about: The Script
The Script have been forced to pull out of a number of scheduled UK gigs this week, including a show in Blackpool tonight (30 August, 2013), where they were due to turn on the illuminations in the seaside town.
The band have cited a family member falling ill as the reason for cancelling the shows. A Twitter statement from their management says; "It is with deepest regret that The Script have had to cancel both their Leeds Academy (29 August ) and the Blackpool Illuminations Switch-On concert (30 August) shows due to a sudden serious family illness. The band deeply regret having to cancel at such short notice. Refunds will be available from the point of purchase. Script HQ"
The band were due to perform at the annual event, hosted by Jonathan Ross, to switch on Blackpool's lights which will then remain on for 66 days.

Former Take That star Gary Barlow tweeted that he would be available to step in should a contribution to Children in Need be made.
I hear Blackpool are looking for someone to switch the lights on this year ? If they'd write a cheque to Children in need I'd do it ?

Blackpool Illuminations host Jonathan Ross also weighed in on The Script's replacement discussion, tweeting:
@GaryBarlow they need someone to sing. Shall we finally unveil our version of the Pet Shop Boys? The Chip Shop Boys has a ring to it
