Jay Z has unveiled the official video for his 'Holy Grail' track, the powerhouse collaboration with Justin Timberlake and the first single to be taken from the Magna Carta Holy Grail album. Watch the video for the track here.
The video, directed by Anthony Mandler, the man behind many of Rihanna's music videos, is a visual spectacle full of the heavy symbolism Jay Z has been using throughout his promotional efforts in the run up to the album's release.
Set in a disused mansion, filled with tv screens, stone statues and candles, the abandoned space is occupied by a moody looking Timberlake singing whilst surrounded by women dancing underneath sheets whilst Jay Z puffs on his cigar elsewhere in a dark room.
Featuring a the iconic lyrics from Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit', the track was originally recorded back in 2011 whilst Jay Z was collaborating with Kanye West on the hugely successful Watch The Throne album.
It is believed that West made many attempts to persuade Jay Z to use the track on their album but was unsuccessful.
'Holy Grail' peaked at number seven in the UK Singles chart upon it's release in July. Justin Timberlake is one of the many guests appearing on Jay Z's twelth studio album, which also includes appearances from Beyonce, Frank Ocean and Rick Ross.
