Manchester band The 1975 could find themselves scoring a No.1 album this week with their debut release, as their self-titled album has rocketed into the Top Ten on the iTunes chart.
After an intense summer of festival shows, the band released their debut album today (2 September 2013), and it is currently the best selling studio album on the iTunes chart, occupying the No.2 and No.4 slots with the deluxe and regular editions. The combined sales, if they continue at the same pace, should see the band claim No.1 with ease. Collections Kisstory and Teenage Dirtbags are are No.1 and No.3 - but neither will be counted in the official UK albums chart as they are compilation releases.
The 1975 are one of the hardest working bands of the year, and have been touring constantly throughout 2013. They have already tasted commercial success with Top 40 single 'Chocolate', 'The City' and 'Sex'. Now they seem set for something much bigger.
Other new albums set to make a splash on this week's albums chart include Yours Truly by Ariana Grande, Young Kingz by Krept and Konan, Roaring 20s by Rizzle Kicks and Hesitation Marks by Nine Inch Nails.

On the singles chart, Ellie Goulding's three-week reign is set to be ended by Katy Perry, after she brought forward the release of new single 'Roar' by a week - to clash with Lady Gaga's iTunes Festival performance. 'Roar' is currently No.1 on the iTunes chart, with Ellie Goulding at No.2.
New UK girlgroup Neon Jungle are also new in the iTunes Top Ten, with their debut single 'Trouble' currently at No.10 on the iTunes chart.
