Two men have reportedly died after the weekend's Brownstock Festival in Essex, although neither incident was related.
One man is said to have died after taking a substance similar to MDMA. The man was rushed to Basildon hospital after taking 5-EAPB along with his girlfriend. He died several hours after admission while she is said to be stable, according to local sources.
The second man died after a four-car crash on the Saturday night of Brownstock. The man is said to have been walking from from the site when he was apparently hit by a number of vehicles. Organisers spoke of their shock at the two deaths, issuing a statement to those at the festival discouraging drug use and advising caution when leaving the site.
"We are devastated that a death has resulted from dangerous drugs sold online as 'legal highs' at Brownstock," read the statement. "Everyone is urged to be ultra careful - please confer confidentially with our on-site medical team (located next to event control on the left at the entrance to the main arena) if any concerns.
”Please also travel safely on departure; you may already have heard about an apparently unconnected death of a festival goer on nearby road yesterday.
”Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those involved. Families have been informed by the police."
