Katy Perry has scored her eighth US chart topper with 'Roar', knocking Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' from the No.1 spot after months of dominance on the American charts.
'Roar' jumps from No.2, with download sales of 448,000 in the week leading up to 1 September, 2013, and is her eighth US chart topper, following No.1 singles 'I Kissed A Girl', 'California Gurls', 'Teenage Dream', 'Firework', 'E.T.', 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)' and 'Part Of Me'.
Katy Perry is now on track to challenge some of the most successful women in music history, with Janet Jackson having scored 10 US No.1s, Whitney Houston 11, Madonna and Rihanna achieving 12 each and Mariah Carey the most successful of all time, with 18 US chart toppers.
Also new inside the US Top Ten are Eminem, who charts at No.3 with his brilliant comeback track 'Berzerk' and New Zealand newcomer Lorde, whose stunning 'Royals' single gets her career off to a spectacular start, landing at No.10.

Katy Perry is set for similar success in the UK, after taking an easy victory on the midweek singles chart, as 'Roar' dethrones Ellie Gouling after a three-week run at No.1 with her single, 'Burn'.
Perry has sold nearly 103,000 copies of the first release from her third studio album in the UK in its first week of release, and is on track to score the fastest selling single of 2013. The record is currently held by Avicii with his own chart topper, 'Wake Me Up', which sold over 266,000 copies in its week of release in July.
