30 Seconds To Mars frontman Jared Leto has discussed the extreme weightloss he suffered for his upcoming movie role as a transsexual in new movie, Dallas Buyes Club.
Leto is already generating Oscar buzz for his performance in the movie, in which he stars alongside Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner, and the rocker lost over 40 pounds for the role, which he claims was due to his focus on what it meant to be a transsexual.
"I stopped eating,” Leto said in an interview with US website The Wrap. "It was 30 or 40 pounds. After a while I stopped counting."
"It changes the way you walk, the way you sit, the way you think."
Your body goes through weird stages," he added, when speaking to The Huffington Post. "Sometimes it's hard to hold on to water. But for me, it's not about the most weight I can lose, it's more to represent the character. I'm focused on what it means to be a transsexual woman."
