Arcade Fire have been confirmed to perform on the opening season premiere of US TV show Saturday Night Live, hosted by comedienne and 30 Rock star Tina Fey.

The episode will air on 28 September - kicking off a series that will see Miley Cyrus hosting and performing on the 5 October episode, and Bruce Willis hosting on 12 October while Katy Perry performs.

The news comes after Arcade Fire premiered their new single and video for 'Reflektor' last night - produced by LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy and featuring David Bowie on backing vocals.

The internet was set alight with rumours of a collaboration with Bowie during the weekend, but taking to his official Facebook just before the track premiere, The Thin White Duke posted: "We can confirm that David Bowie has supplied a brief backing vocal on the James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) produced track (no saxophone though), which is being issued under the alias of The Reflektors."

A vinyl single of 'Reflektor' was released as a very limited 2-track 12" in participating record stores last night, with an instrumental of the A-side on the reverse. The rear of the sleeve was designed to look like an album tracklisting for the upcoming album due on 29 October, but it is in fact just snippets of lyrics from the song.
