Lil Wayne has followed up his legendary interview with Katie Couric to talk to the US talk show star again about his recent health scare, thoughts on retirement and much more. Watch a clip of the interview below.
The rapper, real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr, last talked to Couric back in 2009, which became famous around the world because of the candid nature of the interview. Now, appearing again on the show 'Katie', Lil Wayne discussd his recent 'near death' experiences after a number of seizures.
When asked what caused the seizures, Wayne replied: "Dehydration, working too much, no sleep - things like that catch up with you and we found out that I'm sort of epileptic,"
"We had to go back in history to my past. I thought 'I've never had a seizure, why are they happening now?' And my mom said 'no, when you were younger in the city park in New Orleans you fainted' and that was due to lack of drinking."
He then revealed that he had grown dependent on the pain-killer drug codeine, before doctors and his mother urged him to quit.
"I had been taking pain pills, and they consist of Codeine as well. So the lack of drinking Codeine in the way that I did was like the reaction of stopping a drug."
The 30-year-old rapper also talked about his plans to retire when he's 35 to focus on his four children, and help them do 'whatever they want to do'.
"I don't want to have any influence saying 'hey you must do this', because I didn't have that," he said. "Because I didn't have that I grew up exactly what I wanted to be - I want that for all of my kids."
He continued: "I know I'll be able to retire at 35 because I'm so ready to retire now.
