Disclosure, David Bowie & Foals tipped as favourites for Mercury Music Prize

Competition is 'closest it's ever been'

 

 

Disclosure are now the bookies' favourites to win this year's Mercury Music Prize, closely followed by David Bowie and Foals - in year where bookmakers have described the competition as 'the closest its ever been. See the full shortlist and odds below.

The full list of albums was unveiled at a ceremony in London last night (Wednesday 11 September), where the likes of Arctic Monkeys, James Blake and Jake Bugg were also honoured. 

"There are 12 strong albums here -  representing a diverse range of styles from UK artists, all of which have a good chance of winning," said Rupert Adams from bookmakers William Hill. This quality is reflected in the closeness of the odds we've gien to the 2013 Barclaycard Mercury Prize Albums Of The Year."

He added: “Disclosure have been by far the best backed act with bets of up to £600 placed within minutes of their inclusion in the shortlist.”

The winner will be announced at a ceremony on Wednesday 30 October.
