Nicki Minaj's hit single 'Starships' has come under scrutiny that it is too similar to Tanaka's 'Neu Chicago' for it to be a coincidence.
Despite the fact that 'Starships' made the Top 5 in countries across the world last year, Clive Tanaka's attorney, Christopher Niro has only recently submitted a lawsuit against the pop singer, filing on behalf of Tanaka Light Industries USA.
The producer, who has never revealed his real name or location posted a mashup of the two songs so fans could here the resemblance.
Hear the stream of the mashup below:
Tanaka's lawsuit accuses Minaj, producer RedOne and songwriters Carl Falk, Wayne Hector and Rami Yacoub of copying large proportions of Neu Chicago, claiming that his song was used in two scandanvian commercials and that with many of them having lived in Sweden, they would definitely have heard the track.
Neu chicago was taken from Tanaka's debut (and only) album Siempre No.1 and although he has never played live he is currently working on his second album and screenplay.
