Kanye West has turned to resume website LinkedIn for help staffing his new fashion company, with two job adverts appearing last week.
Staffing firm Decision Toolbox posted the ads looking for a chief financial officer and a vice president for production, with the company loosely described as the ‘Kanye West clothing project’.
“Unlike those in which celebrities merely lend their name to a label, this venture will have the star power of Mr. West’s artistic vision at the heart and soul of it,” the ads explain.
Decision Box have confirmed that the ads are real and that the person behind the new Kanye line is Richard Dent III, formerly chief operating officer for Victoria Secret’s PINK line and chief executive of custom menswear company Astor & Black.
It’s unclear if Astor & Black is producing the line for the rapper or if he is creating it himself and has simply put Dent in charge.
Kanye West has always been one of the more fashion-conscious music stars
This is far from Kanye’s first foray into the fashion world. In 2009 he teamed up with Nike to produce the Air Yeezy, trainers priced at $215 that was regularly sold for more than $1,000 on resale sites. Three years later when the Air Yeezy II was released it could be found on eBay for as much as $6,000 according to the New York Post.
But his first attempt at womenswear, Dw Kanye West, was ridiculed when it first appeared at Paris fashion week.
