Fleetwood Mac star Stevie Nicks has spoken of her shock at the death of Glee star Cory Monteith, revealing that she penned a personal letter to the show's cast after he died from a drug overdose.
Nicks struggled with cocaine addiction during Fleetwood Mac's heyday and after Monteith's death in July 2013 penned a note to the cast of the show. Nicks had met with the young musical cast previously when the show had performed songs from the band's classic album Rumours in a tribute episode of the show.
"I said, 'Forgive me if I'm stepping into your personal space. I lost my godson to an overdose last year - he died at a fraternity party - so I do understand how shocking that is,'" Nicks told Stella magazine.
"When what happened to Cory happened, I was just sick for days. Honestly, just sick. (Drugs are) just so prevalent. It's everywhere. It's worse than when we were young."

Speaking to Gigwise this week, Nicks spoke of the return of Christine McVie to Fleetwood Mac for their upcoming UK shows, revealing plans for her to perform some of the band's biggest songs once more.
"She's coming to do two nights here and probably do 'Don't Stop'," Nicks told Gigwise. "I'm not sure, but she's coming to Dublin to rehearse whatever song she's going to do. We never wanted her to leave, so for us it's amazing that she is going to come."
