In the wake of another fatal shooting massacre in the US, a photo has emerged of Madonna posing with a gun, apparently a promotion for her mysterious new short film, entitled ‘SecretProjectRevolution’. See it above.
One look at the photo – which shows the legendary singer holding a revolver in a room of dead bodies – and it’s clear to see why there has been such a strong backlash.
‘SecretProjectRevolution’ is said to be released next week, and Madonna has said of the project: "My goal is to show by the example of SecretProjectRevolution my creative commitment to inspire change in the world through artistic expression."
"I hope my film and other submissions to Art For Freedom will be a call-to-action and give people a place to voice their own creative expression."
The singer has been no stranger to controversy throughout her thirty-year career, and indeed has received criticism for glamourizing guns previously during her MDNA tour last year.
However, the 55-year-old defended herself, saying: "I do not condone violence or the use of guns. Rather they are symbols of wanting to appear strong and wanting to find a way to stop feelings that I find hurtful or damaging."
