Arctic Monkeys' fifth album AM looks set to hold the No.1 spot for the second week, despite strong competition from new releases by Elton John, Aviici, and Manic Street Preachers.

AM, the Sheffield band's fifth studio album, which has been nominated for their second Mercury Prize, is the second fastest selling album of the year after Daft Punk's Random Access Memories.

Even more impressive is the fact AM is outselling Elton John's The Diving Board, the piano legend's first album in seven years, and Aviici's True, whose recent single 'Wake Me Up!' was a worldwide hit. Avicii enters at No.2, Manic Street Preacher's Rewind The Film enters the chart at No.3, Elton John is at No.4 and Katie Melua debuts at No.5 with new release, Ketevan.

It tops off a successful year for Alex Turner and co, who also headlined Glastonbury festival in June.

Meanwhile, on the singles chart, Katy Perry looks set to lose the No.1 spot to Jason Derulo and his new single 'Talk Dirty', while Jessie J enters at No.3 with latest release, 'It's My Party'. Avicii enters the single chart at No.4 with 'You Make Me'.
