Last year's X Factor winner James Arthur has responded to claims that he slammed One Direction as a 'marketing power', claiming that no criticism was intended.
Arthur caused a stir online when one Twitter user called his music 'shit' and highlighting that 1D were the "highest grossing artists" to come from The X Factor, before Arthur retweeted: "It's ironic that the lowest rating xfactor ever looks like to have produced its biggest star."
He then went on to refer to One Direction a "marketing product" rather than musicians, but the 'Impossible' singer has since gone on to defend his comments:
Haha twitter rant attacking one direction..? Really?? The papers hate me lol I was argued with some know it all, I did not attack 1D #LOVE
