The artwork for Eminem’s new album The Marshall Mathers LP 2 has appeared online after the rapper offered one fan the chance to glimpse the new cover.
The artwork was to be shown to one lucky fan who was the first to correctly answer a trivia question. Unsurprisingly that fan wasted no time in sharing the image with the rest of the world via the internet.
The album cover features the same house that appeared on the original Marshall Mathers LP. But the home is now boarded up, and is in fact up for auction. The rapper’s childhood home in northeast Detroit is valued between $33,000 and $44,000, but is unlikely to fetch anything like that owing to the run-down neighbourhood it’s in, which is filled with derelict homes.
In 2007 the house was sold for $27,650 after its last owner tried and failed to turn a profit based on its fame, putting it up for sale on eBay for $500,000.
The boarded up home is likely to struggle to sell at auction
Now, the boarded up bungalow will hit the auction block with an opening bid of just $1.
The Marshall Mathers LP 2 is due to be released on November 5 and will feature the likes of Rick Rubin, Dr Dre and DJ Premier. Recent tracks ‘Bezerk’ and ‘Survival’ are to be included.
