Arctic Monkeys see 1795 per cent sales rise after Glastonbury

Arctic Monkeys and Example lead the way in acts who performed at this summer's Glastonbury Festival who saw a massive rise in album sales on Amazon.

Music Week reports that overall, Glasto acts saw a staggering average rise of 536% in MP3 download and CD album sales on Amazon.co.uk.

Example tops the list with an impressive 2538% soar in sales of his Playing In The Shadows album, while there was a 1200% boost for The Evolution of Man. The increase is put down to his primetime appearance on the Other Stage on the Saturday - which was broadcast to millions across BBC TV, radio and online.

Arctic Monkeys also performed well, with their headline slot on the Friday on the Pyramid Stage causing sales of their third album Humbug to rocket by 1795%.

Lianne La Havas’ also enjoyed success following her performance on the Sunday night, with her Mercury-nominated Is Your Love Big Enough? seeing a 1212% rise.

Besides from Glastonbury, other festivals also led to big acts shifting massive units. Snoop Dogg's Wireless set is reported to have caused 1075% spike in sales of his debut album Doggystyle, while Boys and Girls by Alabama Shakes shifted 1066% more more units following their appearance London's Hard Rock Calling.

Arctic Monkeys' latest album, AM, has broken records in the UK - making chart history by marking Alex Turner and co becoming the first independent band to score five consecutive No.1 albums.
