A spokesperson for Lana Del Rey has denied claims that the star is due to release her new film project Tropico, revealing no release date has been agreed for the project, despite online leaks.

Fans became excited online after make-up artist Ashley Joybeck announced the film's release on her Twitter account, sharing a promotional image for the film and writing: "The musical shortfilm I did makeup for with Lana Del Rey is coming out soon!!!!" The image she shared had today's date (30 September, 2013). See the image above.

In August of this year, Lana Del Rey revealed she hoped Tropico would be released 'next month' (ie, September), but an official statement from her spokesperson claims: "We have not yet set a release date yet."

The star previously described the film as her 'farewell project', leading fans to believe the Born To Die star will be taking a break from music after only one album.

"Look forward to to seeing you for the farewell project," the singer tweeted. "I adore you and thank you for inspiring me. TROPICO."

Lana Del Rey refused to confirm or deny whether she was planning to retire when asked in August 2013, after she was quizzed by fans as she attended a Courtney Love gig in Los Angeles.

"Am I going to retire?" she said, before letting out a murmur that sounded a little bit like 'I don't know'.

The 30-minute short film will include new music from the singer’s Paradise EP, including the tracks ‘Bel Air’, ‘Gods & Monsters’ and ‘Body Electric’.
