Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham has stated that there will only be a new album from the band if singer Stevie Nicks agrees to it.
After selling out a three night residency at London's O2 Arena last week, there's been speculation as to whether or not a new album may be on the cards. However, Buckingham has spoken out to M Music and Musicians about the future of the band and how it is largely down to Nicks' decision.
He mentioned that Stevie had had a wonderful experience making her latest solo album release, In Your Dreams and is probably feeling under pressure with writing new material, adding: "She's probably thinking, 'If i have to write five new songs, do I want to give them to Fleetwood Mac?' I think she's feeling a bit protective and territorial about the experience she had doing her solo project. And I can totally relate to that."
He admitted in the interview that Warner Brothers are desperate to get another album out of them, despite not being signed to them anymore, but that it will only happen if Stevie wants it to.
"Stevie needs to come to the table with some material," said Buckingham. "In order to contemplate a new album, she has to want to do it. "
